Dear friends and colleagues in Open Space, When I consider these two vital aspects of an OST meeting, I think of them in combination with one another. The two components are showing up to a compelling theme (responding to the invitation) and the law of two feet (the law of mobility). Together, they teach us something important about transforming our individual and collective consciousness. By showing up so powerfully in the present, we stop lingering in the past or focusing on the future. Think about it this way. We usually spend too much conscious thinking in the past or future, and insufficient conscious thinking in the present. As we show up in the present, we are actually transforming our consciousness. Years ago, one of the most powerful OST experiences that I, and about thirty other people had was sponsored and facilitated by Ann Stadler and Harrison Owen. The theme was Expanding Our Now. Length of time for this OST was five days. Location was on the coast of Oregon. Individually and collectively, our consciousness transformed...and none of us was the same again as we were before this OST gathering. I believe the year was 1995. Harrison wrote his book Expanding Our Now based on the learning in that experience and our confirmed recognition that "now is all we have". Live your now, transform your consciousness. Participating in frequent OST meetings is a great way to do so.
