Dear Open Space friends…
If it weren’t for deep democracy and Arny Mindell’s work I would never have come across Open Space Technology. Here is a show I made with Philip Glass that opens space and speaks of Taoism. It’s my story of how his music inspired me and how deep democracy is essential to the world. It’s about how music can open space to deeper levels of connection. Anyone who is in North Carolina or New York do come and see us and say hello over the next few weeks.

continued working inside me for weeks... I would love to see it again...

Wow that's sounds amazing. Too bad I am on the other side of the ocean. As
a musician myself I can totally relate.
It is amazing how OST have inspired so many and has ramifications all over
the world.
I was in several conferences over the last few weeks about facilitation,
shared governance, new ways of working etc...
At all of those events OST or some of its principles (laws of 2 feet for
instance) were mentioned several times in a matter of fact kind of way.
Many people beyond this group have integrated OST in the work they do. It
is now part of the practice of many professionals and organisations. It may
have been adapted, transformed, enhanced (with music as in the work of
Phelim) but I believe the spirit endures. Maybe because it was always there
and has, indeed, been remembered. Now it cannot be undone!

I have bought tickets for the NYU performance and will bring friends too.
Looking forward to it Phelim!
I also went to your Cosi Fan Tutte at Lincoln Center in 2018.
I have been so impressed by your creativity since the WOSONOS in London.

Glad to hear about another person on this list connecting Processwork/Deep
Democracy of Arnold Mindell with OST. Actually, I found the two approaches
during separate times in my learning. I have found both very informative
for my work over the decades. Currently, I am involved in a watershed
education and restoration program that focuses on creating partnerships
between tribal peoples and the current private landowners, and in a couple
of years we expect for this to expand to a community level. Much
preparation to go through before that can happen, but I'm feeling much more
confident than I might have if I didn't have a few tools like OST and Deep
Democracy in my toolkit!

Re Deep democracy
Arnold Mindell’s books:
The best initial introduction is The Leader as martial artist. And “The year one” is where the initial work was developed and Arny’s vision of a connected world: “Better than conflict more exciting than peace” For the study of “worldwork” the major ook would be “sitting in the fire“ which recounts many interesting stories of intense worldwork processes. Deep Democracy of open forums is To Worldwork as World cafe is to OST. .. More Polite.
For an up to date exploration of the seasons and phases of conflict processes the latest book “conflict phases forums and solutions” is up to date with Arny’s recent thinking and guides when to do worldwork and when to leave well alone!
Lots of interesting stuff from Arny and Amy’s website
Hey all from NYC at the bottom of the Deep Democracy Cone currently performing my show where i explain deep democracy :)

If this worked there would be no conflicts. The powerful seek conflict and there isn't a freaking thing we can do about it... other than to rearrange the deck chairs and gin up the music...
