In my practice I never worked with the OST process if the sponsor was

Your description of events where participants are superficial is a

Hi all,

And when the prerequisites in place are also ABOUT place?

When we talk about 8 billion, let us remember that we are each in a place,
and that place itself (landscape, watershed) is important for the
conversations that are needed in this time.

In my long ago doctorate I used the term "Open Space In Place" to inquire
when the theme of the OST is about the past, present, and future of the
place where the space is opened, and the people who care about it. There is
a resonance with some principles of indigenous ceremony and indigenous
science, as confirmed by my teachers Angeles Arrien and Apela Colorado.

I'm now reading a powerful book, Being Together In Place: Indigenous
Coexistence in a More than Human World
(2017) by Larsen and Johnson. They
tell stories of three places around the world - within Canada, the US, and
Aotearoa/New Zealand - where Indigenous peoples, settler-descended peoples,
and nonhumans are in a new kind of dialogue, "calling humans and nonhumans
to their inevitable, ongoing entanglement in these lands and making their
struggle for coexistence at once a political and spiritual issue."

They conclude: "Coexistence is grounded in the agency of place, which
creates, teaches, and speaks of this deep interconnectedness of all life.
Through the protocols of respect, responsibility, and recognition, place
teaches us the intrinsic and life-supportive value of our being-together,
pulling us into relational worlds..."

"The agency of place" to convene us into appropriate conversation about our
shared future is resonant for that big vision of Harrison.

warmly
Jeff

Topic: The Art of Onboarding New Members - One: Creating a commitment
pool fosters relationships among members and enhances their sense of
belonging.

The Art of Onboarding New Members - Two:  What social elements, for
example, “group” and or “place” focused versus “individual” focused, do
you include alongside the technical aspects in your onboarding process
to get high active engagement?

Hi all,

And when the prerequisites in place are also ABOUT place?

When we talk about 8 billion, let us remember that we are each in a
place, and that place itself (landscape, watershed) is important for
the conversations that are needed in this time.

In my long ago doctorate I used the term "Open Space In Place" to
inquire when the theme of the OST is about the past, present, and
future of the place where the space is opened, and the people who care
about it. There is a resonance with some principles of indigenous
ceremony and indigenous science, as confirmed by my teachers Angeles
Arrien and Apela Colorado.

I'm now reading a powerful book, Being Together In Place: Indigenous
Coexistence in a More than Human World
(2017) by Larsen and Johnson.
They tell stories of three places around the world - within Canada,
the US, and Aotearoa/New Zealand - where Indigenous peoples,
settler-descended peoples, and nonhumans are in a new kind of
dialogue, "calling humans and nonhumans to their inevitable, ongoing
entanglement in these lands and making their struggle for coexistence
at once a political and spiritual issue."

They conclude: "Coexistence is grounded in the agency of place, which
creates, teaches, and speaks of this deep interconnectedness of all
life. Through the protocols of respect, responsibility, and
recognition, place teaches us the intrinsic and life-supportive value
of our being-together, pulling us into relational worlds..."

"The agency of place" to convene us into appropriate conversation
about our shared future is resonant for that big vision of Harrison.

Jeff

Two: “Urgency” is here for billions of people, in terms, “such as

Three: It is time for critical and objective analysis in the use
of OST. If business as the usual, “prerequisites in place” is not

 Dear Tony,

why were your thoughts not documented or recorded?

It is surprising news that the OST process champions positive
 values, the resulting
 outcomes and behaviors.
To me the OST process is a tested experiment if the prerequisites
 are in place.
In other words, was the sponsor questioned on the prerequisites?
In my practice I never worked with the OST process if the sponsor
 was not sure that
the prerequisites were in place. In most cases where the
prerequisites were not in place I could suggest other approaches
 and point to other consultants.
Your description of events where participants are superficial is
 a sure fire example of
an event that was initiated without the prerequisites in place.
The first prerequisite is „An urgent business issue… action
should have been taken  yesterday“… another word for this is
 „Urgency“.

 Have a great day

Thanks to all for sharing your time and knowledge. My thoughts
were stated and offered but not documented or recorded: The OST
process, while it champions positive values, the resulting
outcomes and behaviors often fall short. Participation and
engagement in OST meetings are typically superficial and fail to
drive the meaningful change and action required to tackle
significant challenges, such as social breakdown and collapse
awareness, working-class economics, and ecological or planetary
 damage.

Hi Jeff et al,
I am not always able to attend the timeslots but read with interest the
thread as it comes through - in particular today I see 'commitment pooling'
and refer to a colleagues work Grass Roots Economics - that has done a lot
of work in this area - living amongst Kenyans in Kenya utilising their
traditional form of poling called Mweria.
Just wanted to share that -

They tell stories of three places around the world - within Canada, the US,
and Aotearoa/New Zealand - where Indigenous peoples, settler-descended
peoples, and nonhumans are in a new kind of dialogue, "calling humans and
nonhumans to their inevitable, ongoing entanglement in these lands and
making their struggle for coexistence at once a political and spiritual
issue."

"The agency of place" to convene us into appropriate conversation about
our shared future is resonant for that big vision of Harrison.

warmly
Jeff

conversations is a timeless endeavor.

Two: “Urgency” is here for billions of people, in terms, “such as social
breakdown and collapse awareness, working-class economics, and ecological
or planetary damage”. Or is it that you think not?

Three: It is time for critical and objective analysis in the use of OST.
If business as the usual, “prerequisites in place” is not up to the
challenge, "engaging 8 billion people in meaningful conversations is a
timeless endeavor". Why not, why bother, and what is there to do to

Dear Tony,

why were your thoughts not documented or recorded?

It is surprising news that the OST process champions positive values, the
resulting
outcomes and behaviors.
To me the OST process is a tested experiment if the prerequisites are in
place.
In other words, was the sponsor questioned on the prerequisites?
In my practice I never worked with the OST process if the sponsor was not
sure that
the prerequisites were in place. In most cases where the prerequisites
were not in place I could suggest other approaches and point to other
consultants.
Your description of events where participants are superficial is a sure
fire example of
an event that was initiated without the prerequisites in place.
The first prerequisite is „An urgent business issue… action should have
been taken  yesterday“… another word for this is „Urgency“.

Have a great day

We had a lovely conversation with many emerging threads, watch out –
there may be more invitations coming 😊, we didn’t get much further then
exploring the concept of values in OST.

With appreciation and thanks for joining John, Francois, Tony and in the
