Hi Open Space friends,
While this announcement isn’t about Open Space, I’m passing along this opportunity because it’s a rare chance to learn from Sandra Janoff, co-creator of Future Search*. For those of you who don’t know Sandra, she is one of the few leaders still actively working who launched the great era of experimentation with whole systems change work that transforms how groups come together and move forward. Sandra has been one of my most important teachers. One of numerous ways she has influenced my work with Open Space is in how I think about and draw in the people who make up a system.
Sandra co-directs the Future Search Network with Michael Donnelly, who lives in Northern Ireland and was introduced to this work 25 years ago when it became instrumental in rebuilding civil society at the time of the Good Friday Peace Agreement.
Together, they have created a high quality learning experience which they are offering in-person in
Philadelphia on May 20-22.
About the workshop:
The P-10 Facilitation Training is for facilitators, leaders, and anyone who wants to run better meetings in today’s complex world. It’s about leading more, controlling less, and keeping groups whole—even when tensions run high.
This is a hands-on, in-person learning with practical tools you can use immediately. The fee is now $800 to make it more accessible. Because Sandra and Michael want to be sure that price isn’t a barrier, if the price is too high, call Sandra at 610 909 0640.
In Sandra’s words: "Michael and I really want to see this workshop be accessible because we believe so strongly in the way it can help leaders, facilitators, and the groups they work with, be successful."

*This workshop isn’t about doing a Future Search https://futuresearch.net/ but since I’ve mentioned the process, I’ll say a bit about it. While it has a different rhythm from Open Space, it shares an emergent quality with it. Per The Change Handbook: The purpose of a Future Search is: To evolve a common ground future for an organization or community where stakeholders build high commitment to action and rapid implementation.

Thanks, Peggy, for sharing this opportunity. It's highly recommended. I was so lucky to attend this workshop in South Africa in 2007. Looking back, it was one of the best courses I ever followed. As Peggy states, it influenced how I work, research, and live. It offers a philosophy of leading and how to apply it in meetings we need now more than ever.
Warmly,
Tonnie

Wow, Peggy!
Two great offerings from you in just a few days!
Serendipitously, I was just recommending Future Search to my colleagues in the Oakland Unified School District because they are facing a complex fiscal challenge that no one individual or small team in the district knows how to address. I would so love for them to learn how to do this work. Of course I’ve also recommended Open Space and also Chris Corrigan and Caitlin Frost’s workshop series on working with complexity inside and out.
Please keep the ideas coming!

Thanks for sharing Peggy! Being in a workshop with Sandra is very illuminating. I attend some years ago to a Future Search training with her in Bogota and it was an amazing learning experience.
Best regards,
Agustin
