Hello dear friends! Last september, during GiGi Mundiala/WOSonOS 2022 in Bilbao, in the previous Open Space on "Complex times, how do we go ahead in collaborative ways?" (26-27 Sept 2022) a group of passionated people started a conversation on a very specific action: "How can we prepare a fasting week for next summer?" We are now glad to announce that the plan is going ahead. This makes the past GiGi adventure even more fullfilling! Conveners plan to spend one week fasting on a farmhouse during 21-28th of July 2023, in which communication language will be Basque (this would normally not happen, being a diglotical situation, in which, at the end, those meetings most of times happen mainly in Spanish. Their goal is to do it in Basque to expand the usage field of the local language). The issue for the OS is not fixed yet. I have never facilitated this kind of OS, with those 3 features: a. participants willl most of them be fasting, with a doctor taking care of health/nutritional needs b. the promotors have in mind a long OS (around 5 days?) c. I suppose we'll convene the OS with the really important issues in life And I'm excited about it! Any input is welcome! Dear Brigitt, I guess this 5 day OS is being life changing too, really! "Expanding our now" seems a very good topic for us too, yes! I'll reflect over the way to briefly express it in an invitation. Hello Eleder. So glad to see that wonderful week in Bilbao still bear fruit. I wish I could speak basque and join what will surely be a deeply transformative experience. My input would be to use the opportunity of the farmhouse, which I assume will have some land around it, and possibly some outbuildings (barn?) to add the space dimension to time as was suggested by Brigitt. When I was in Bilbao I went to see the exhibit "a matter of time" at the Guggenheim. These are massive "sculptures" which create narrow corridors between very tall walls but opened at the top. It takes you on various geometrical journeys like for instance a spiral ending in an empty circle. Through the spiral you are disoriented and start losing sense of space and time. Then you arrive at this circular open space, where it seems time stands still. Similarly by playing around with the various spaces available or that you can create around the site of your event, you would be able to induce or facilitate certain states of mind. Natural spaces are particularly powerful and do that as long as you are, indeed, in the now.
