Dear Open Space World Community,
Announcing Open Space Lab, an experiment designed to deepen and share our collective practice of Open Space Technology because we see its power to foster a more collaborative, peaceful, and inclusive world.
As practitioners, we seek a dedicated space to experiment, learn, and experience Open Space. Open Space Lab is intended to be that space for our community.
How it Works
Every month on the first Tuesday we’ll host a 90 minute online Open Space Technology gathering, inviting anyone to join. Each meeting will feature different themes, facilitators and styles.
To accommodate our global community, our meeting times will rotate accordingly;
Americas: 09h00 PDT / 16h00 UTC / 18h00 CEST / 00h00 CST Taipei
Europe & Africa: 09h00 CEST / 15h00 CST Taipei / Day before: 24h00 PDT Pacific / 07h00 UTC
Asia & Oceania: 09h00 CST Taipei / Day before: 18h00 PDT / 01h00 UTC / 03h00 CEST
Call For Facilitators
We are calling for Open Space Lab Facilitators who:
Care deeply about Open Space and have hosted at least one Open Space meeting
Understand the four principles and one law
Wish to contribute to the Open Space world community by offering your gifts
If you feel called, add yourself to the list https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JuKhwsfXNKcXH7sGjlgaz796Y73HJl4s1nTvgmaEgqU/edit?gid=0#gid=0 by June 30 for the first three calls! Our group of Open Space Lab Stewards will be in touch to set a specific date, time, and theme.
The inspiration: How can we Grow the Capacity to Open Space?
A conversation began among a few people that led to a gathering https://www.tonnievanderzouwen.nl/en/online-gathering-how-can-we-grow-the-capacity-to-open-space/ to explore the question: How can we grow the capacity to Open Space? Heartbreak at the state of our democracies emerged. Also, grief over fracturing communities and a shared recognition of the epidemic of loneliness that touches nearly everywhere.
We realized that each of us knows in our bones that when we open space, something essential becomes possible. Opening space ignites hope and inspiration, genuine connection, and the energy to act—to do together what none of us can do alone. Again and again, we’ve seen this: whatever the challenge, when we put out a call shaped as a real question—one that invites the diversity of those who care—we discover among us the capacity to make a difference.
If you find yourself nodding “yes” as you read this,
this call is a chance to deepen your practice.
Next Steps
Once we have our first few meetings scheduled, we will begin announcinging Open Space Lab monthly meetings on the Open Space Listserv.
Thank you!
