do you have curiosity about how an organization builds on the results of regular OST meetings

Dear friends and colleagues,

Since 2001 with an initial multi-day OST meeting, the International Genuine
Contact Organization formed, first as a community of practice. Development
involved at least one OST meeting annually. Topics were identified and
discussed, People took leadership for topics that they wanted to move
forward into action in the organization. And we learned what it took for an
organization that made regular use of OST to develop, grow, evolve. In fact
we consider the IGCO to be a leadership learning incubator as leadership
for life nourishing organizations, the kind that OST helps to create, is a
different kind of leadership, a more holistic kind.

I want to let you know about something new: the IGCO is opening its first
Learning Cohort this October. This is an opportunity that just might
interest those of you interested in how an organization operates with the
results of regular OST meetings. Different leadership is needed, different
capacity is needed.

As a leadership learning incubator, the IGCO has been a place to develop
leadership through direct experience inside the organization itself, not
just by studying it from outside or in theory only. Members over the years do
this on their learning on their own terms, finding their own way in and
setting their own pace, focusing on the aspects of the organization and how
to lead them that is of greatest personal interest for personal leadership
development.

The Learning Cohort is a new, guided way to do the same. A mentoring team
walks alongside participants in the Learning Cohort from the first session
onward, helping you build your leadership from a structured foundation,
then put what you're building to work right away, inside the IGCO itself, a
living global organization.

Your own team, your own budget, your own reputation aren't on the line
while you find out what a new way of leading actually feels like. By the
time you bring it home to your organization, you've already tested your
leadership learning, not just imagined how it would work.

Open Space Technology had a strong influence on how the Genuine Contact Way
developed. The Learning Cohort isn't a different philosophy being offered
to you. It's a continuation of one many of you already hold.

The pilot begins in late October. The exact date isn't fixed yet, and
there's some preparation to do beforehand, so we're asking people to sign
up at least a week ahead of the start. You can learn more here:

Dear All,

The leadership learning cohort is a wonderful curated learning environment!

If been to and info session about this offer and realized what a powerful
catalyst for personal development this can become for those who join!

One thing  I really appreciate is the opportunity to develop or sharpen
your own learning goals in the first couple of sessions. This definitely
caters to my needs as a busy person. I often take decisions  based on
intuition and feeling rather than on intellect alone.

So if you’re curious to learn, experiment and grow - please join the
program.

Lots of love from WOSonOs.

Dear Birgitt,

Thanks for posting this message, and for bringing attention to the journey
taken by a number of people who met in an OST meeting and who have been
consistently working with OST meetings over the past 25 years.

While some of the people have changed and others have stayed, the
fascinating thing is how consistently working with regular OST has been at
the heart of so much growth and development, including the growth of the
International Genuine Contact Organization, a deeper understanding of its
role as a leadership learning incubator, and the new opportunities it
offers, like the learning cohort.

I came to the Genuine Contact way of working through Open Space, and
actually through this list where I learned a lot from the conversations I
listened to and joined. . I also found an opportunity to attend a Working
with Open Space Technology workshop way back in 2001. After the training, I
remember being eager to apply what I learned and find ways beyond the
method to work with the deeper underlying philosophy that underpins Open
Space Technology

Engaging with the OS and Genuine Contact communities and later the evolving
IGCO, has been deeply valuable in helping me find my way as a leader and
facilitator for organizations and communities undergoing transformative
change.

I am very excited about the Cohort and I experience it as yet another
result of people taking responsibility for their passion and creating
something that we hope will benefit a larger collective of people who join.

I'm proud to be one of the people taking leadership in further developing
the cohort this year as we embark on our first pilot this October.

Thank you for the reminder of how this grew as a result of toa deep dive in
working with and in the philosophy and practice offered by Open Space.

I think it is going to be a great learning and growing opportunity.

With love and gratitude,

Doris

Thanks for your story, Doris...and your leadership in the Learning Cohort
from which people will benefit from your decades of working with OST and
your deep understanding of regular use of OST in an organization.

Over time, we learned that one whole system OST meeting annually was all
that an organization could work with. The quality and quantity of outcomes
was so outstanding that it took us all year in various teams to work with
the topics that were agreed upon for moving into action. The measure of
success of an OST meeting was what was different two months, six months,
and onward in the organization. Were we achieving the greatest harvest from
the OST meeting?

We had learned from Harrison about the importance of having a Council of
Champions for this purpose, with the persons who took the lead on topics to
come together as a group to discuss what was moving into action and
how. However, you and Rachel Bolton developed this even further into what
has become a Leadership Action Team (LAT) as an integral aspect of the
structure of the organization. Through the LAT anyone throughout the year,
beyond those who stepped forward in the OST meeting, can post a topic for
action. This is visible to everyone in the organization, along with
requests for people to join in on the action, support for moving the action
forward, noting progress from month to month. Learning about the LAT, how
it works, what it accomplishes for ongoing open space in the organization,
and where it struggles is one of the participant opportunities in the
Learning Cohort that you (Netherlands), Rachel (Canada) and Eiwor (Sweden)
will mentor participants through.

with apprecitation,
Birgitt

Thanks for your story, Doris...and your leadership in the Learning Cohort from which people will benefit from your decades of working with OST and your deep understanding of regular use of OST in an organization. Over time, we learned that one whole system OST meeting annually was all that an organization could work with. The quality and quantity of outcomes was so outstanding that it took us all year in various teams to work with the topics that were agreed upon for moving into action. The measure of success of an OST meeting was what was different two months, six months, and onward in the organization. Were we achieving the greatest harvest from the OST meeting? We had learned from Harrison about the importance of having a Council of Champions for this purpose, with the persons who took the lead on topics to come together as a group to discuss what was moving into action and how. However, you and Rachel Bolton developed this even further into what has become a Leadership Action Team (LAT) as an integral aspect of the structure of the organization. Through the LAT anyone throughout the year, beyond those who stepped forward in the OST meeting, can post a topic for action. This is visible to everyone in the organization, along with requests for people to join in on the action, support for moving the action forward, noting progress from month to month. Learning about the LAT, how it works, what it accomplishes for ongoing open space in the organization, and where it struggles is one of the participant opportunities in the Learning Cohort that you (Netherlands), Rachel (Canada) and Eiwor (Sweden) will mentor participants through. with apprecitation, Birgitt [image: Birgitt Williams] Birgitt Williams (she/her) Senior Consultant Dalar International Consultancy Life Nourishing Leadership +1 919 522 7750 · call, text, or WhatsApp LinkedIn <https://www.linkedin.com/in/birgittwilliams/> My working hours may differ from yours – please reply when the time is right for you. Thanks for sharing Birgitt. I like this idea of forming/inviting an action team after an OST, with an ongoing invitation to all involved to initiate new actions. A "simple way" to expand opportunities from the OST-meeting and inspire ongoing open space. And then - as in the International Genuine Contact Organization - keep it in daily life.

Dear Birgitt,

Thanks for posting this message, and for bringing attention to the journey taken by a number of people who met in an OST meeting and who have been consistently working with OST meetings over the past 25 years.

While some of the people have changed and others have stayed, the fascinating thing is how consistently working with regular OST has been at the heart of so much growth and development, including the growth of the International Genuine Contact Organization, a deeper understanding of its role as a leadership learning incubator, and the new opportunities it offers, like the learning cohort.

I came to the Genuine Contact way of working through Open Space, and actually through this list where I learned a lot from the conversations I listened to and joined. . I also found an opportunity to attend a Working with Open Space Technology workshop way back in 2001. After the training, I remember being eager to apply what I learned and find ways beyond the method to work with the deeper underlying philosophy that underpins Open Space Technology

Engaging with the OS and Genuine Contact communities and later the evolving IGCO, has been deeply valuable in helping me find my way as a leader and facilitator for organizations and communities undergoing transformative change.

I am very excited about the Cohort and I experience it as yet another result of people taking responsibility for their passion and creating something that we hope will benefit a larger collective of people who join.

I'm proud to be one of the people taking leadership in further developing the cohort this year as we embark on our first pilot this October.

Thank you for the reminder of how this grew as a result of toa deep dive in working with and in the philosophy and practice offered by Open Space.

I think it is going to be a great learning and growing opportunity.

With love and gratitude,

Doris

Dear friends and colleagues,

Since 2001 with an initial multi-day OST meeting, the International Genuine Contact Organization formed, first as a community of practice. Development involved at least one OST meeting annually. Topics were identified and discussed, People took leadership for topics that they wanted to move forward into action in the organization. And we learned what it took for an organization that made regular use of OST to develop, grow, evolve. In fact we consider the IGCO to be a leadership learning incubator as leadership for life nourishing organizations, the kind that OST helps to create, is a different kind of leadership, a more holistic kind.

I want to let you know about something new: the IGCO is opening its first Learning Cohort this October. This is an opportunity that just might interest those of you interested in how an organization operates with the results of regular OST meetings. Different leadership is needed, different capacity is needed.

As a leadership learning incubator, the IGCO has been a place to develop leadership through direct experience inside the organization itself, not just by studying it from outside or in theory only. Members over the years do this on their learning on their own terms, finding their own way in and setting their own pace, focusing on the aspects of the organization and how to lead them that is of greatest personal interest for personal leadership development.

The Learning Cohort is a new, guided way to do the same. A mentoring team walks alongside participants in the Learning Cohort from the first session onward, helping you build your leadership from a structured foundation, then put what you're building to work right away, inside the IGCO itself, a living global organization.

Your own team, your own budget, your own reputation aren't on the line while you find out what a new way of leading actually feels like. By the time you bring it home to your organization, you've already tested your leadership learning, not just imagined how it would work.

Open Space Technology had a strong influence on how the Genuine Contact Way developed. The Learning Cohort isn't a different philosophy being offered to you. It's a continuation of one many of you already hold.

Dear  Thomas and all you other 578 on the LIST,

back in my active time as a witness to ost events we
created invitations to gatherings.

One part of the invitation was a short schedule, see below, for the event
itself (in this case a 3-day strategy gettogether that took place in Berlin
in 2008, 2010 and 2012 with ~ 170 participants from all over Germany
at all 3 events).
The date for the "Next Meeting" several months after each
event at a fixed location was part of the invitation... it was a half
day gathering for
the projects that had been activated on the third day of the ost events.
Time for:

/--- Current situation
--- And now?
--- Agreements on the further course of action/

Several projects were completed, most were developing, some changed,
and several new ones were activated after the ost gathering... new
participants
moved in...

Thanks for your story, Doris...and your leadership in the Learning
Cohort from which people will benefit from your decades of working
with OST and your deep understanding of regular use of OST in an
organization.

Over time, we learned that one whole system OST meeting annually was
all that an organization could work with. The quality and quantity of
outcomes was so outstanding that it took us all year in various teams
to work with the topics that were agreed upon for moving into action.
The measure of success of an OST meeting was what was different two
months, six months, and onward in the organization. Were we achieving
the greatest harvest from the OST meeting?

We had learned from Harrison about the importance of having a Council
of Champions for this purpose, with the persons who took the lead on
topics to come together as a group to discuss what was moving into
action and how. However, you and Rachel Bolton developed this even
further into what has become a Leadership Action Team (LAT) as an
integral aspect of the structure of the organization. Through the LAT
anyone throughout the year, beyond those who stepped forward in the
OST meeting, can post a topic for action. This is visible to everyone
in the organization, along with requests for people to join in on the
action, support for moving the action forward, noting progress from
month to month. Learning about the LAT, how it works, what it
accomplishes for ongoing open space in the organization, and where it
struggles is one of the participant opportunities in the Learning
Cohort that you (Netherlands), Rachel (Canada) and Eiwor (Sweden) will
mentor participants through.

 Dear Birgitt,

Thanks for posting this message, and for bringing attention to the
journey taken by a number of people who met in an OST meeting and
who have been consistently working with OST meetings over the past
 25 years.

While some of the people have changed and others have stayed, the
fascinating thing is how consistently working with regular OST has
been at the heart of so much growth and development, including the
growth of the International Genuine Contact Organization, a deeper
understanding of its role as a leadership learning incubator, and
the new opportunities it offers, like the learning cohort.

I came to the Genuine Contact way of working through Open Space,
and actually through this list where I learned a lot from the
conversations I listened to and joined. . I also found an
opportunity to attend a Working with Open Space Technology
workshop way back in 2001. After the training, I remember being
eager to apply what I learned and find ways beyond the method to
work with the deeper underlying philosophy that underpins Open
 Space Technology

Engaging with the OS and Genuine Contact communities and later the
evolving IGCO, has been deeply valuable in helping me find my way
as a leader and facilitator for organizations and communities
 undergoing transformative change.

I am very excited about the Cohort and I experience it as
yet another result of people taking responsibility for their
passion and creating something that we hope will benefit a larger
 collective of people who join.

I'm proud to be one of the people taking leadership in further
developing the cohort this year as we embark on our first pilot
 this October.

Thank you for the reminder of how this grew as a result of toa
deep dive in working with and in the philosophy and practice
 offered by Open Space.

I think it is going to be a great learning and growing opportunity.

Hi Thomas and Michael,
When adding the Council of Champions (by this or another name) meeting a
short time after an OST meeting as you are both doing, such as three to six
months later, you add a dimension of accountability back to the whole
rather than accountability to oneself only for moving actions forward that
were committed to.  It is often a new experience for people to show up
being accountable to each other.

This takes on a different life when a group of leaders of actions and
projects from a single or multiple OST meetings in an intact ongoing
organization. We took a while to understand what was needed, how
people when they completed an action would finish with what we called the
Leadership Action Team, and how emerging topics throughout the year had a
time and place to join in the group. It is one part of the structure of our
International Genuine Contact Organization that supports ongoing open space
within an organization that allows for the posting of topics, inviting
participants, taking responsibility, having the authority to continue on,
and being accountable to the collective. We also learned that in some
cultures, there isn't a word or attached concept for accountability. This
made for some interesting conversations and insights.

Did our learning come by only through successes? No. It came about through
the combination of experience and reflecting on the experience.

Dear friends and colleagues,

Since 2001 with an initial multi-day OST meeting, the International
Genuine Contact Organization formed, first as a community of practice.
Development involved at least one OST meeting annually. Topics were
identified and discussed, People took leadership for topics that they
wanted to move forward into action in the organization. And we learned what
it took for an organization that made regular use of OST to develop, grow,
evolve. In fact we consider the IGCO to be a leadership learning incubator
as leadership for life nourishing organizations, the kind that OST helps to
create, is a different kind of leadership, a more holistic kind.

Members over the
years do this on their learning on their own terms, finding their own way
in and setting their own pace, focusing on the aspects of the
organization and how to lead them that is of greatest personal interest for
personal leadership development.

The Learning Cohort is a new, guided way to do the same. A mentoring team
walks alongside participants in the Learning Cohort from the first
session onward, helping you build your leadership from a structured
foundation, then put what you're building to work right away, inside the
IGCO itself, a living global organization.

Your own team, your own budget, your own reputation aren't on the line
while you find out what a new way of leading actually feels like. By the
time you bring it home to your organization, you've already tested your
leadership learning, not just imagined how it would work.

Open Space Technology had a strong influence on how the Genuine Contact
Way developed. The Learning Cohort isn't a different philosophy being
offered to you. It's a continuation of one many of you already hold.

The pilot begins in late October. The exact date isn't fixed yet, and
there's some preparation to do beforehand, so we're asking people to sign
up at least a week ahead of the start. You can learn more here:
https://genuinecontact.net/gc-way/gc-learning-cohort/

Warmly,
Birgitt
